北宋太宗太平兴国年间（公元976～984年）铸行，宋代第一种年号钱，隶书、篆书对钱形制。太平通宝方孔钱币，中国历代王朝多有铸造。以其用途，可以分为行用钱和厌胜钱（俗称花钱）两类。太平通宝为宋朝第一种对钱，南唐有篆书开元视为中国历史上第一种对钱。从钱币形制、钱文风格、铸钱工艺以及钱币的共通时代气息判断，篆书太平通宝，可以断定是宋太宗太平兴国年间铸行。与太平通宝隶书钱币，形成宋代的第一种对钱。只是因为太平兴国时期，为太宗的第一个年号，时间不足八年，其时太宗刚刚登基，政、战事忙乱，内稳帝位，安抚人心，外迫吴越纳土，平北汉、征辽国，试图统一交趾（今越南），执行守内虚外的政策。因此，铸行的太平通宝钱币，隶书钱币推行开来，得以流通全国；篆书钱币试铸后，因为时机不成熟或某种意外变故，却未能铸行天下。本组太平通宝铸字古朴自然，极具北宋钱币书法特色。

It was cast during the Taiping Xingguo Period (976-984 AD) of Taizong in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was the first type of coin with an annual title in the Song Dynasty. It was made of official script and seal script. The Taiping Tongbao square hole coins were cast by many dynasties in China. According to its purpose, it can be divided into two categories: business use money and dislike winning money (commonly known as spending money). Taiping Tongbao was the first kind of money in the Song Dynasty, and Kaiyuan in the Southern Tang Dynasty was regarded as the first kind of money in Chinese history. Judging from the coin shape, coin writing style, coin casting technology and the common era flavor of the coins, it can be concluded that the seal script Taiping Tongbao was cast during the Taiping Xingguo period of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty. With Taiping Tongbao Lishu coins, it formed the first kind of coins in the Song Dynasty. It was only because it was the first year of Taizong in the period of Taiping and rejuvenating the country. It was less than eight years ago. At that time, Taizong had just ascended the throne, and political and war affairs were in a hurry. It stabilized the throne internally, pacified people's minds, forced Wu and Yue to accept the land externally, pacified the Northern Han Dynasty, and invaded the Liao State, and tried to unite with each other (today's Vietnam) to implement the policy of keeping the interior empty and the exterior. Therefore, Taiping Tongbao coins and Lishu coins were introduced and circulated throughout the country; After the trial casting of seal script coins, due to the untimely time or some unexpected changes, they failed to be minted in the world. The coinage of Taiping Tongbao in this group is simple and natural, with the characteristics of Northern Song Dynasty coins and calligraphy.
