民国三年(1914年)，北洋3军阀政府正式铸造袁世凯头像银币，因币上铸有袁世凯侧身头像，故民间俗称“袁大头”。正面中间为袁世凯戎装左侧面像，上方为“中华民国三年”字样，寓意民主、共和、宪政及君主立宪之思想希冀；背面为中间是汉字“壹圆” 周围环嘉禾纹饰。古称生长奇异的禾，古人以之为吉祥的征兆。铸币之上寓意国家重视农桑、以民生为本。此枚钱币币面设计精美，线条流畅，立体感强，包浆醇厚，保存完好。袁世凯“签字版”钱币备受追捧，市场价值一路飙升。

In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), the Beiyang 3 warlord government officially cast Yuan Shikai's head silver coin, because the coin is cast with Yuan Shikai's side head, so it is commonly known as "Yuan Datou". Front middle for Yuan Shikai military left side image, above the "Republic of China three years", meaning democracy, republic, constitutionalism and the idea of constitutional monarchy hope; Back for the middle is the Chinese character "one circle" around the ring Jiahe decoration. In ancient times, it was called strange grass, and the ancients regarded it as an auspicious sign. The coin means that the country attaches importance to agriculture and mulberry, based on people's livelihood.
