以莲花或莲瓣作为器物之纹饰及造型，随佛教之传入而盛行，尔后更取其出泥不染之习性，寓意廉洁，广为各类器所采用。该器状似未盛开莲花，线条温柔婉约，高雅清丽。原器应与一执壶配套，为一温酒用器，晚唐至宋所常见。 莲花温碗，以其典雅造型，温柔不透明釉色，在传世不多之汝窑器中，更显珍贵。The use of lotus flowers or lotus petals as decorative patterns and shapes became popular with the introduction of Buddhism, and later adopted their habit of not staining mud, symbolizing purity and being widely used in various types of utensils. The shape of the vessel seems to be a blooming lotus, with gentle and graceful lines, elegant and beautiful. The original vessel should be paired with a holding pot and used as a warming wine utensil, which was common from the late Tang to Song dynasties. The Lotus Warm Bowl, with its elegant design and gentle opaque glaze, is even more precious among the rare Ru kiln artifacts that have been passed down.
