Description

The Central E of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty copper coin refers to a type of copper currency minted during the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1909-1911), with the words "Qing Copper Coin" engraved on it, "Xuantong reign" on the obverse center, and "Central E" on the reverse. The name "Zhongxin E" refers to the Wuhan region (Hubei Province). The center of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty copper coins, E, was a successor variety of the Guangxu Yuanbao copper coins minted in Hubei Province. The main purpose of minting coins was to replace the Guangxu Yuanbao currency system and adapt to the currency needs of that time. The obverse of this type of copper coin generally bears a profile portrait of the last Qing Dynasty emperor Xuantong, with some mint marks or inscriptions beside it. The reverse is engraved with the words "Central E", reflecting the place name of the mint at that time. The outer edge of copper coins is often decorated with serrations or bead rings.
