Huang Zhou (March 31, 1925- April 23, 1997), originally named Liang Gantang, with the courtesy name Yingzhai, was born in Li County, Hebei Province. He is a famous Chinese painter, collector, and social activist. Huang Zhou joined the People's Liberation Army of China in 1949 to work in military art. In 1955, he served as a creative officer in the Cultural Department of the General Political Department. In 1959, he became an advisor to the Art Company of the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution. In 1981, he became the Vice President of the Chinese Painting Research Institute. Formerly served as a member of the 6th and 7th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, an executive member of the 8th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and an executive director of the China Artists Association. Huang Zhou advocates the creative concept of integrating life, sketching, and creation, pursues a creative spirit that must be attacked but not defended, and firmly adheres to the artistic concept and creative path of "art serving the people". His representative works include "Playing Polo", "Celebrating Harvest", "Snowy Storm in the Wilderness", and so on. He passed away on April 23, 1997, making his calligraphy and painting collection highly valuable.
