Description
This precious seal is cast from refined copper, measuring 9.1 centimeters square, with three different shaped exotic beasts, each with four legs and a strong and powerful body. The heads are different, whether they are dragon heads, animal heads, or phoenix heads. They have a fierce appearance and should be legendary divine beasts. Although the three beasts are entangled with each other, their respective postures and shapes are vivid, and their fur, teeth, and claws are all exquisite. The cloud patterns on the body of the Three Chis and the flower tails behind them are in line with the artistic style of the Shoushan stone seal during the Yongzheng period. Although copper is a traditional material for Chinese printing and widely used, it was mostly used in the Qing Dynasty to make official seals for various levels of government agencies, and rarely used in the production of imperial seals. This is particularly unique in the Qing Dynasty imperial and empress seals, which are mainly made of jade and stone.
