Description

Weiwu Duzun includes five emperors: Shunzhi, Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, and Jiaqing. Among them, the Five Emperors Coin refers to copper coins with circular square holes. Ancient copper coins were cast according to the principles of "outer circle and inner square" and "unity of heaven and man", and were modeled after the principles of heaven, law, and earth. It is a concrete manifestation of the ancient Yin Yang and Five Elements theory and has a profound cultural attribute. In ancient times, there was a custom of using ancient copper coins to ward off evil and bring good fortune. Usually, five copper coins were strung together, representing the power of the five elements in the five directions. The Five Emperors, in its original sense, referred to the Heavenly Emperors of the East, South, West, North, and Central Five Directions. They were the gods of the Five Directions, assigned the Five Elements and Five Colors, including gold, wood, water, fire, earth, white, blue, black, red, and yellow. The custom of using five "outer circle inner square" ancient copper coins to represent the divine power of the Five Elements and Five Emperors to ward off evil and bring blessings has a long history.
