The Forbidden City (Beijing Palace Museum) began construction in the fourth year of the Yongle reign of Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty (1406), based on the Nanjing Palace Museum, and was completed in the 18th year of the Yongle reign (1420). The architecture inside the Forbidden City is divided into two parts: the Outer Court, the Zhonghe Hall, and the Baohe Hall. The center of the Outer Court is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, which is collectively known as the Three Great Halls.
