藏品描述

This pair of porcelain has a plate mouth, a long neck, a slim belly, a platform foot, and an elephant head ring ear attached to each side of the neck. Tall and majestic in shape. The fetal material is pure white, the glaze is transparent, and the blue and white color is beautiful and vibrant. Eight patterns are painted from mouth to foot, including tangled chrysanthemums, banana leaves, cloud phoenixes, tangled lotus, sea dragon, sea waves, tangled peonies, and mixed lotus petals. The layers are clear and complex yet not chaotic. There is a chronological inscription written between the banana leaf patterns on the neck, which reads: "信州路玉山縣順城鄉德教裏荊塘社奉聖弟子張文進喜捨香爐花瓶一付祈保闔家清吉子女平安。至正十一年四月良辰謹記。星源祖殿胡淨一元帥打供。" This inscription clearly indicates the exact time in the eleventh year of the Yuan Dynasty, which is 1351 AD. This pair of porcelain, with typical blue and white hair color and rust spots, is in line with the characteristics of the Yuan Dynasty blue and white. The painted patterns are well arranged, vivid in shape, exquisite and unparalleled, with a clear chronological style. It is very rare, with a large shape, paired in pairs, complete and unrepaired, making it even more rare. The blue and white porcelain of the Yuan Dynasty initially did not have a specific type in the academic community, and was not recognized as early Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain. In 1952, Dr. J. A. Pope, a Chinese ancient ceramic scholar at the Free Gallery of Art in the United States, published "Fourteenth Century Blue and White Porcelain: A Group of Chinese Porcelain in the Topukapu Sarayi Muzesi, Istanbul". In 1956, he also published "Chinese Porcelain from Ardebil Shrine". He designated all blue and white porcelain with this style as 14th century blue and white porcelain, using the David Vases, a Yuan blue and white dragon patterned double elephant ear vase collected by Pesivaro Le Davide, as the standard. From then on, Yuan blue and white porcelain received attention and recognition from ancient Chinese ceramic scholars around the world. This pair of porcelain has a bottom diameter of 20.5cm and a height of 63.5cm, which is consistent with the famous David Vases currently housed in the British Museum. The text and decorations on them are consistent, indicating that they should be from the same batch of artifacts produced at that time. This pair of porcelain is a rare treasure and has great collection and investment value.
