Description

Wang Xiliang (February 1922 March 13, 2023), originally from Yi County, Anhui Province, was born in Jingdezhen. He is a master of Chinese arts and crafts and a master of Chinese ceramic art. He came from a poor family in his childhood and dropped out of school at the age of 12 to learn porcelain painting with his uncle Wang Dafan, one of the "Eight Friends of Zhushan" and a renowned ceramic art master in Jingdezhen. In 1952, he joined the Jingdezhen Art Cooperative and two years later, he transferred to the Jingdezhen Crafts Society. Later, he entered the Ceramic Industry Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Light Industry and engaged in ceramic art creation and research. He successively served as the Chairman of the Jingdezhen Art Workers Association, a member of the 4th and 5th sessions of the Jingdezhen Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and a standing committee member of the 6th session. Honorary Director of China Ceramic Art Museum and Honorary Director of Changnan Painting and Calligraphy Academy.
