Description

Jiang Rong (1919-2008), also known as Lin Feng, was from Qianluo, Chuanbu, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. She is an important figure in the history of Chinese purple clay craftsmanship and is known as a contemporary master of purple clay teapot art. His main representative works include lotus pots, peony pots, golden melon pots, diamond shaped pots, pumpkin ashtrays, etc. Jiang Rong's works are exquisitely skilled, vivid and authentic, setting a unique example, making her the first female master of arts and crafts in the history of Chinese purple clay craftsmanship. Her works won a special prize at the National Industrial Conference and made gifts for Premier Zhou Enlai's visits to Southeast Asia and other countries. In 1956, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province appointed her as the "technical mentor" of the purple sand craft, which was the highest honor and treatment in the craft industry at that time. Jiang Rong is also a member of the China Art Society, a member of the China Arts and Crafts Design Association, and an honorary director of the Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Association.
