Description

The Gongchun teapot was created by the famous craftsman Gongchun in Yixing, Jiangsu during the Zhengde and Jiajing periods of the Ming Dynasty. Legend has it that his surname is Gong and his name is Chun. Later, inspired by the monks of Jinsha Temple, this type of pot was made by imitating the natural and rugged posture of tree stumps. Its simple and lovely shape was widely loved, and it was called the "Gongchun" pot due to the homophonic name of the maker. The shape of the teapot later became widely circulated, and since the Qing Dynasty, many purple clay masters have been practicing it.
